4 Mindful Ways To Manage Your Hectic Schedule
It’s time you learn to mindfully manage that hectic schedule of yours and stop letting life run you. YOU run your life. Life by definition is chaotic, busy, and challenging. Good & bad things pop up every day, creating new projects and new problems to solve. By figuring out ways to manage your hectic schedule you are showing yourself that you care about your time and you care about your business.
So be intentional with each minute you have and choose what you want to spend your energy on. Here are 4 tips to help you manage your hectic schedule so that you can live your everyday life to the fullest:
Set Aside Downtime
Take it from someone who works three different jobs & lives in a different country every month. The only way you will be able to maintain your crazy schedule is by setting aside downtime to rejuvenate. I make sure to schedule in some time for reading, yoga, and Netflix. Figure out what leaves you feeling refreshed and ready to jump back into your daily schedule. Sometimes that can be a late night out with friends, or it can be an early night with pajamas on by 7:30 pm.
Use A Calendar or Agenda Book
Probably the most important aspect of managing a hectic schedule is finding a way to organize it. You will have your own way that works for you. Perhaps it is google calendar or an agenda book. Whichever it is, keep up with it. Include all your calls, including your gym time, include your appointments with friends. Allow this calendar to enable you to be where you need to be & when you need to be.
If you want to take it even one step further, set specific times for tasks. For example,
- 10:00-11:00 am: answer emails
- 11:00-12:30 pm: write the press release
- 12:30 to 1:00 pm: lunch
- 1:00-2:00 pm: team call
- 2:00-3:30 pm: create graphics for social media
Be Efficient
Be efficient. I know, easier said than done right? However, this is one of the most important aspects of managing a hectic schedule. If you set time for a project, be disciplined enough to stay in line with that time you have set.
By scheduling in downtime, you have no excuse not to be completely focused during the times that you set for working. Hold yourself accountable and notice how much you can actually get done when you are solely focused on that one task.
Learn To Say No
The last tip to help you mindfully manage your hectic schedule is to learn how to say no. If you are efficient & consistent about your schedule, you know if you have time in your life to take on more.
If you do not have the time or energy to take on more… say no. By saying no, you will be able to focus on the items already on your to-do list and not burn yourself out. As a result, if you take too much on at the detriment to your mental health, it will not be worth it in the long run.
By managing your hectic schedule you are showing yourself that you value your time. Also, recognize that your time is valuable and important. Be intentional about what you spend your time on.
